What is Warmer Kiwi Homes?
Warmer Kiwi Homes is a government programme run by EECA. It helps lower-income homeowners make their homes warmer and drier with insulation and efficient heating, including heat pumps.
The grant is paid through approved providers, not to you directly. An installer who does this work can tell you whether your address is likely to qualify, but only the programme can confirm it.
Who qualifies?
Eligibility is means-tested and changes from time to time. In general you need to:
- Own and live in the home
- Have a home built before 2008
- Hold a Community Services Card, or live in an eligible lower-income area
- Have ceiling and underfloor insulation, or get it done first
- Not already have an efficient fixed heater in the living area
What is funded?
Only an approved high-wall heat pump in the main living area is funded. Ducted, floor console and multi-split systems are not covered.
The grant covers most of the cost, with the homeowner paying the rest. Funding is limited each year, so it can run out in some regions.
How to get started
Request a quote using the form on this page and select high-wall. The installer can check whether your home is likely to qualify and explain the next steps when they get in touch.
If you do not qualify, you still get a normal written quote. There is no cost to ask.
