What Mitsubishi Electric is known for
Mitsubishi Electric has been a mainstream choice in New Zealand for a long time, and it shows. Plenty of installers carry it, parts and service knowledge are easy to find, and many homeowners already have one in a previous house.
The residential range covers the main types, and parts of the range are marketed with cold-climate performance in mind, which suits frosty towns.
The range in New Zealand
Expect high-wall units in a wide spread of sizes, floor consoles for rooms without a good wall, ducted systems for whole-home heating, and multi-split systems that run several indoor heads from one outdoor unit. Wi-Fi control is available across much of the range.
Models and names change regularly, so ask the installer which current model they recommend for your room rather than chasing a specific product name.
Not the same company as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries
Mitsubishi Electric and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries both sell heat pumps in New Zealand, but they are separate companies with separate ranges, warranties and dealer networks. Make sure the quote names the right one.
Who it suits
A good fit if you want a widely known brand that most installers are comfortable with, especially in colder areas where cold-weather heating output matters. As with any brand, the quality of the installation matters as much as the badge.
What to ask before you buy
- Which models in the range suit my room size and climate?
- What is the heating output at low outdoor temperatures?
- What warranty applies to parts and labour, and does it need regular servicing?
- Is Wi-Fi or app control included, or an add-on?
- Do you install this brand regularly, and who handles warranty work?
